How to Make Cell Culture Media for C2C12 and Satellite Cells
Differentiation Media for C2C12 cells
- 200 ml DMEM
- 4 ml horse serum (2%)
- 3 ml penicillin/ streptomycin
- Use a sterile vacuum filter (found on bench)
- In the hood, place all ingredients for the media in the top half of the filter
- Attach the vacuum filter hose to increase filtration
- Detach hose, label new bottle (name/date/ recipe)
- Store in fridge

- 250 ml DMEM
- 50 ml FBS (fetal bovine serum- includes growth factors)
- 3 ml penicillin/streptomycin
- Use a sterile vacuum filter (found on bench)
- In the hood, place all ingredients for the media in the top half of the filter
- Attach the vacuum filter hose to increase filtration
- Detach hose, label new bottle (name/date/ recipe)
- Store in fridge
