Educational & Patient Outreach

Patient Outreach

The San Diego Muscle Research Center is primarily aimed at providing San Diego based muscle researchers with administrative, scientific and financial support. However, the SDMRC regularly teams up with patient organizations like CureDuchenne or Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) to educate patient families about latest developments in muscle research, and educate the next generation of scientists.

World Duchenne Awareness Day

September 7 is World Duchenne Awareness Day. Several patient organizations concentrate their efforts to raise awareness and organize educational programs. Support and awareness is raised by using the hastag #WDAD2020 on social media or by donating to a research or patient organization.
More information on the World Duchenne Awareness Day can be found here.

Development of treatments for Duchenne and other muscular dystrophies

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy regularly updates information on clinical trials and their outcomes.
